Video: Mount Cook and the Hooker Valley Lake
Video Description:
On a recent trip to Mount Cook National Park, Hilary and I walked to the end of the Hooker Valley track where there is a glacial lake at the bottom of Mount Cook. We had been to Mount Cook a few weeks before but it was raining heavily and we weren’t able to see or do anything and were forced to head home early. This time, the weather started out just the same, and we were prepared for another disappointing weekend. Determined to stick it out though, we got set up at the campground and hung around waiting for the weather to clear.
A few hours after arriving, the rain started to slow and by the late afternoon the clouds had lifted. We started for the Hooker Valley track and ended up watching the sun set from the lake at the end of the trail. Even though it was only a short walk, the views were awesome and it was incredibly peaceful as the sun started to set and all of the peaks started to glow with a soft golden light. I climbed a small hill to get some photos and that is when I flew my drone around and took this video.
