Video Description:

On a trip from Wanaka down to Dunedin, Hilary and I stopped in at a place called Saint Bathans. Luckily, Hilary was sleeping while we were driving past so she didn’t even know that I had sneakily turned of to make a scenic detour.

Saint Bathans is an old gold mining town and there isn’t much to see except for some old buildings and a really cool old hotel. There’s also a lake called Blue Lake that is actually man made from the sluicing operations of the mine. I took a few pictures, but it was tough to capture the unique landscape in still photos so I got out my quadcopter (which I have aptly named Dixie) for a quick tour.

I wasn’t really planning to do anything with the video but it ended up being quite cool so I thought I would share it here.
