DESCRIPTION
One rainy and foggy day when Hilary and I were living in New Zealand, we decided to visit a place called Meg Hut. One thing that I really loved about New Zealand was their hut system. You could find huts dotted all across the country and they made for some great adventures and made overnight walking or hiking trips super easy.
Meg Hut is one of the simpler huts with a few bunks inside, a fireplace, and a table. Other, more elaborate huts have several floors, different rooms, full kitchens, power, and a water supply.
We didn’t actually end up staying overnight at Meg Hut, however, and simply went for a quick day trip. I worked at a bike shop in Wanaka, so we grabbed some e-bikes from the shop rentals and took them to the hut. You can see them parked on the corner of the building in the picture.
It was so much fun, and made it so much easier to get there. And then the bonus is that you have a mountain bike to ride all the way down from the top. Can’t beat that. Check in next week for the photo of the week which will be a picture of Hilary riding into the fog along the ride home!
