DESCRIPTION
One of the most popular spots to get a sunrise photo in Banff has got to be at Vermillion Lakes. You get a great view of Rundle Mountain and if you are lucky you can catch the awesome colours of the sunrise behind the mountains and reflecting in the lakes.
The lakes are only a few minutes outside of the town of Banff and are right next to the Transcanada Highway but it’s still a surprisingly quiet and peaceful place to spend a morning.
On the day that I took this photo, I was staying in Canmore with my family and I woke up early in the morning to drive out to Banff. It was really cloudy and cold so I didn’t get the colourful sunrise that I was hoping for. But, the low morning sun and cold, blue light gave a completely different and dramatic look.
