DESCRIPTION

When I graduated university, I decided to take a trip to Morocco as well as a few places in Europe. I couldn’t find anyone else that was able to travel with me at the time and almost cancelled the idea, but then realized that I could just go by myself. It was a super scary idea at the time, but ended up being one of the best things I’ve ever done. Morocco was the first country that I visited while travelling by myself.

During my time in Morocco, I made a trip over the Atlas mountains from Marrakech to check out the Sahara desert. We were riding across the sands to our campsite one of the nights with the sun setting behind us, surround by sand in all directions and dunes spread out all around us. I’d love to tell you that the whole experience was as majestic and peaceful as it looks in this photo, but all that I can really remember from the trip is how uncomfortable camels are to ride. Things are getting squashed, everything is swaying back and forth, and it feels like you’re just riding a drunk horse. And the worst part is that the whole time, it feels like you’re going slower than walking pace. So why not just walk? That’s what I want to know. But I guess people walking through the desert just doesn’t have the same ring as people riding camels through the desert now does it?
