DESCRIPTION
It seems that in Iceland, a lot of the coolest things are in the middle of nowhere and at the end of a rough 4WD road. That was definitely the case with Haifoss. This photo is only the top section of the waterfall, but it shows the sheer size and power of the waterfall.
It’s one of those places that has you convinced that your map is wrong and that you’re on the wrong road because you can’t see how a waterfall could exist in this flat and wide open terrain. But when it comes into sight and you see the deep canyon that the water drops into, it all makes sense.
If you look close in the photo, you can see a few other smaller water falls scattered around the background. You can also see some really cool layers of rock in the walls to either side of Haifoss.
