Iceland is the kind of place that has awesome scenery and photo opportunities everywhere you look. I took this photo on a section of road just after we had pulled over to check out the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall. There are so many stretches of road in Iceland that stretch out before you into the distance with volcanoes, glaciers, the ocean or mountains on either side that almost demand to be taken as a photo. But, because there are so many it’s impossible to capture everything. That’s why you just have to try to take photos where you can and try not to get overwhelmed. It’s also why I ended up with over 4000 pictures from Iceland in under 2 weeks.

A little while after taking this photo, all of the clouds that you can see in the picture cleared and we ended up seeing the sun set for the first time in Iceland. Because it was summer and we were near the Arctic Circle, the sunset was very slow and the colour seemed to stay in the sky forever. It was around midnight when the sun set, and then it rose again around 3 in the morning and during the that time, the colour stayed in the sky the entire time.
