Have you ever seen the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail? I’ve seen it many times and every time it makes me laugh. Maybe it’s because I watched it since I was young with my brother, even though our mother staunchly disapproved.
Anywho, this castle, called Castle Stalker, was used in the filming for the movie.

It isn’t totally obvious, but the castle is actually built on a tiny little island, completely surrounded by water. Now, at first this seems a bit bonkers and impractical, but the reason is that when the castle was built, the interior of this area was hardly explored. This meant that there were no roads and all travel was done by water along the coast. So when you look at it like that, it makes a lot of sense as it would be so much easier to defend the castle from a small island.

We ended up coming to Castle Stalked twice while we were in Scotland. The first time we came, we were in Fort William and drove down along the twisty narrow road which took a lot longer than we had expected. And the second time, we were heading further south in the country and decided to drive past it again.

With a nice sunset and the help of a 10 stop ND filter, I was able to get this little number.
