The FIX 11: Standing on Top of the World
Focus of Episode: Basic Photo Edit in Lightroom
In this episode of The FIX, I show you the editing behind a shot that was posted as Photo of the Week on February 26th, called Standing on Top of the World.
There’s a bit of a long story that goes along with this one, and you can click on the link to the photo and description above to read more about it, but the main points are that some friends and I went out for a night in the mountains to get some sunset and sunrise photos from a spot called The Bridge of the Mastadons near the Crowsnest Pass. There was to be a full moon that night and it seemed like it was going to be quite cool to get out for an adventure. Unfortunately, the wind thwarted our plans and we ended up laying on top of tents to stop them from blowing away and eventually chasing a tent down the mountain as it rolled and tumbled away filled with gear. It was a bit of an unfortunate one, but at least this picture is kind of cool right??
Anyways, the editing done to this one is fairly simple and isn’t much different from what I do to most basic photos. So things to look out for and that you can expect to learn are:
- How to add a cold and dark mood to a photo
- How to draw attention to a subject by warming and brightening the leading lines
- How to perform a basic edit in Lightroom
So sit down, buckle up, and let’s get into it!
