POW: Kirkjufell Mountain in Iceland

Iceland is covered with really unique looking mountains and landscapes, but one in particular that has become quite famous is called Kirkjufell. The famous picture of this mountain is taken from a waterfall called Kirkjufellsfoss. Instead of that famous view, however, this photo is taken of the back side of the mountain which looks just as impressive and unique.

My memories of Iceland seem to be filled with all sorts of different colours from bright Koolaid blues of waterfalls, rich reds of hardened lava, pale greens of thick ancient moss, and pure blacks of volcanic ash. But this area of Iceland (called the Snaelfellsnes Peninsula) was dominated by the vibrant green that you can see in this photo.

I was struggling to capture this scene with one image, so I instead decided to use one of my wide angle lenses with the camera in portait orientation to take several photos side by side. I then stitched these together in a panorama to get an extra wide photo overflowing with pixels.
